Skate or Die 1989!
I was working on some skate deck graphics today, and buying myself a Jim Phillips ‘Screaming Hand” toy, so I got all nostalgic for my childhood.. through my early adulthood.
Here I am, 10 or 11, shamelessly posing. Maybe I was showing off my dope new Natas Kaupas deck,
or my awesome Vision Street Wear shorts.. no, I was probably showing off my amazing bowl haircut.
Here is a Rampenstein we had in our driveway for a while. It was built from the remains of an old ramp with a few inches added and a deck built out. The thing was a monster and probably should have been condemned.. look at that transition and total lack of vert. Never let 11 and 12 year olds near a hammer and a saw unless you are falling behind on your Ark building.
I read up on how to ACTUALLY build a ramp. We built a pretty good 8′ wide, 6′ tall quarter pipe for the driveway, much to the neighbors’ chagrin. A few years later I built a 4′ tall mini halfpipe in my garage.. that was the ultimate. How I miss that miniramp!
